Munawar Faruqui’s Personal Life
The religious violence in Gujarat in 2002 completely damaged Farooqui's home. As per sources, his mother killed herself when he was 16 years old. In order to secure his family from the chaos, his father decided to move his family to Mumbai for a fresh start after shifting from his hometown Junagadh.
In 2008, Munawar's father became really unwell and was bedridden, which made Munawar Faruqui the financial caretaker of his family at the age of 17. He then took control of the marriage arrangements for his three sisters.
In addition, Munawar used to work during the day and take nighttime computer classes to meet his career demands. Later on, he got influenced by stand-up comedy and began going to OPEN MIC sessions. His family also supported him in pursuing his career.
Recently, in an episode of India’s popular reality show Lock Up, he was questioned about his family by Kangana Ranaut, to which he responded that he had been separated from his wife and child for one and a half years. Munawar began his career as a stand-up comedian after working as a salesperson in a store that sold kitchenware. Then, early in his career, Farooqui worked as a graphic designer for a respectable company. Munawar debuted his Dodge Dahyo Gujarati show in 2019 at Malad, Mumbai. In, 2020, Munawar launched his own YouTube channel and began uploading comic videos. As a result, he soon became famous.

Arrested for disrespecting Hindus' religious sentiments
On January 1, 2021, the Madhya Pradesh Police detained Munawar after receiving a complaint from Akalvya Laxman Singh Gaur, the son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur, alleging that Munawar had offended Hindus' religious emotions.
During one of their performances of Dongri to Nowhere on a countrywide tour at the venue in Indore, the police and a group of men from a Hindu organisation named Hind Rakshak Sangathan claimed that Farooqui had made offensive remarks about Hindu deities. After spending 35 days behind bars, Farooqui was given bail by the Supreme Court on February 5, 2021.
Site sabotage threats by Hindu right-wing organisations
Munawar's stand-up comedy concert was opposed and banned at numerous places after Farooqui's arrest in January 2021 because Hindu right-wing organisations had threatened to vandalise the venue.
The working president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, KT Rama Rao, asked comedian and actor Munawar Farooqui to appear in Hyderabad in December 2021. Rama Rao was criticised by Telangana BJP MP Dharmapuri Aravind. The performance, which was scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on January 9, 2022, has been threatened with rejection by Dharmapuri Aravind.
