Similarities between Anupama, Sreemoyee, and Aai Kuthe Kay Karte?
Rajan Shahi stated in his interview that the Anupama serial is not a remake of the Bengali original series Sreemoyee but it is definitely an inspiration for the Hindi Serial. Arundhati from AKKK, Shrimoi from Sreemoyee, and Anupama from Anupama serial have the same concept, it narrates the story of a middle-class housewife who takes a new journey to become a successful woman after getting cheated on by her husband after 25 years of marriage. She has children, and their battle with social norms and getting divorced is all that we see in the story.
The original concept was first telecasted for Bengali viewers as Sreemoyee and then in the Marathi language on Star Pravah as Aai Kuthe Kay Karte around 2019. After the huge success of these two shows in their respective languages, Rajan Shahi decided to make a Hindi version of the same on Star Plus.
Difference between Sreemoyee, Aai Kuthe Kay Karte, and Anupama
There is no such major difference in these shows as it reflects the same story, but as per the viewers Anuj, the love interest of Anupama waited for Anupama for 26 years and she was totally unaware of it whereas Sreemoyee's love-interest Rohit proposes to her in college but she rejects it and after her divorce, Rohit proposes to her again and eventually they get married. In Anupama, Kavya doesn’t divorce Vanraj but Sanjana signs the divorce papers in AKKK. Anupama has a passion for dancing, and Arundhati from AKKK is passionate about singing. Apart from this, these stories were not much different. Sreemoyee’s lead actress was Indrani Haldar and Madhurani Gokhale plays Arundhati. The original show Sreemoyee ended on 19th December 2021 after its successful run of two-and-a-half years, the story ends with Shrimoi becoming a huge entrepreneur while the other two are still on air.
Rupali Ganguly was not the first choice for Anupama’s role.
As we know Rupali Ganguly’s screen presence and her acting skills are one of the reasons for Anupama being the No.1 serial in the Tv industry, but before she was finalised for the role there were many actresses who were approached for the same. Mona Singh, Shweta Tiwari, Gauri Pradhan, Sakshi Tanwar, and many more declined the role of Anupama, and eventually, Sarabhai VS Sarabhai actress Rupali Ganguly fit into the role and the magic of her acting is everywhere right now. As per the reports, she is charging 3 lakh per episode.
Be it a remake or not, Anupama gained its own identity, and viewers love how the story is so evolving and creating an impact on us.
